Looks around wide-eyed.
Did y’all know there are hot guys hanging around backstage? Naked and almost naked? Half of them are drinking wine, how weird is that?
Damn! I like it here!
Oh, wait. Right. Business before pleasure. Speaking of pleasure, Marie, can I have him for my release day gift? Wow!
So, I’m Carter Quinn. Nice to meet you all. Before we get down to it with that guy—or maybe that one—I’d like to thank these two wonderful women, Marie and Heidi, for inviting me to their Den of Decadence. I may never be the same, but if I am, it won’t be for lack of trying!
Holy Ravenous Hole, Batman! How can he take that thing all the way down like that? Wonder if he gives lessons?
Right, right. Carter Quinn. So this is my feature blog debut! Woohoo! It’s exciting, except it basically means very few of you know who the hell I am. So let’s fix that. I was born and raised in a wee town in Kansas. You’ve heard the phrase “in the sticks”? Well, my hometown was so far from anywhere that we only had one stick. Need a frame of reference? There were 39 people in my graduating class and we were the largest class in the high school that year! Needless to say, I got my queer ass out of there as soon as possible! I’ve lived in Florida and Nebraska (if Omaha counts), but mostly in Kansas, so I’m familiar with blue collars and red necks (literal and figurative). Now, on the cusp of my odometer rolling over to True Middle Age, I live in Colorful Colorado. It’s only been a few months, but so far I’m still in awe of the incredible beauty of the mountains.
About a year ago, I wrote—well, finished—my first novel, The Way Back, coming from Dreamspinner Press on June 11. Hopefully you’ll find it a lightly amusing, mildly angsty tale of what happens when the love of Riley’s life wants him back, even though Riley has just started a new relationship.
Without further ado on my part—and because that guy right there looks like he needs my attention—here’s the blurb. You can read an excerpt at the Dreamspinner site here. Thanks again to Marie and Heidi—and those two guys—for having me!
In freshman year, Riley Evans met the best friends he ever thought he’d have, Jason and Eric. But then his friendship with Eric turned into something much more. That relationship ended almost as soon as it began, and Riley hasn’t let anyone near his heart since. Until now.
When Riley needed him most, Jason helped pick up the pieces. Six years later, he’s once again part of Riley’s life. Riley is slowly letting Jason past his defenses and is starting to see how good they are together. They’re even planning a romantic weekend getaway. Then, out of the blue, Eric calls, claiming he wants Riley back.
Riley has been dreaming about Eric for six years, but suddenly he can’t he stop thinking of Jason. Jason, who has always been there when Riley needs him—who puts Riley’s happiness above his own, even if that means his own heart will suffer. Jason insists Riley face his old feelings for Eric to make sure they’re really gone. But are they? If Riley can’t learn from his mistakes, he may be destined to repeat them—and Jason won’t wait forever.
