We’ve had a few trans posts in the past, and it’s always been something on my radar, but I was both not stumbling across too many trans blogs nor was I, I admit, actively looking. Then last week I was looking for a placeholder image for a transwoman character. I Googled “trans woman” and got a page full of beautiful trans women.
Nearly every single one of them were photos of women beaten or murdered because they were trans.
After feeling sick and sad for about an hour, I got angry, and I started Googling in earnest. I found several (not murdered) celebrity transwomen, and I found a tumbler full of beautiful, erotic, and moving images of persons in transition to male and to female and into a firmly non-specific space between. So I gathered up a folder, and as long as I have images, I’ll make it a feature. Here’s my first offering, the photo I chose for my character.

Leslie Mora, attacked June 19, 2009 in Queens, NY. “The attack left Leslie with multiple injuries, including bruises all over her body, and stitches in her scalp. Police called to the scene found Leslie nearly naked and bleeding on the sidewalk. They also recovered a belt buckle from the assailants that was covered in blood.”

Beautiful. There are some very wicked and ignorant peoople out there. I wish things were different and we could all live with peace and understanding. Our differences don’t matter, oursleves do.
She’s beautiful. I hope they caught her attackers.
How truly sad that others can’t just let someone live their life as they wish.
She’s gorgeous. There were some beautiful women at the Pride Parade here in Buffalo. It’s horrible that when you search transgender online you most get news reports about murders and vicious attacks. Hopefully that will change soon. And you chose a beautiful woman to be the image for your character Heidi.
It makes me sick just thinking about it. This is a great idea for a feature, Heidi. She’s beautiful.
As a Transman, I am glad to see you deciding to do something related to this. I’ll admit I never look much into the darker reality of it.
