Writing for Anteros Media
Early in the Little Boy Lost series, I started researching the gay porn industry because at the end of the third book, the back drop would shift to encompass that setting. One of the models I interviewed, and later became friends with, was Devon Hunter. Smart, funny, kind, and friendly, we hit it off right away and when he came to Chicago on business, we met for lunch. I gave him a signed copy of Enlightened, and soon Devon became a big fan of the Little Boy Lost series He actually accused me at one point of following him around in high school in order to write the series. It was that real to him. From the third book forward, he pre-read for me, making sure that all of my adult entertainment scenes, and my scenes in general were realistic. His insight into the industry was invaluable to me.
When he started his own media company, Anteros Media, in order to try and change the culture behind adult entertainment, he gave me a unique opportunity. As a fan of my previous work, he asked me to produce written content for the site that they would subsequently post as text and record into audio format. Geared toward men for their sexual satisfaction, these stories, dubbed “microfiction”, are very short, titillating stories that provide hot content with a bit of context. The partnership allows me, as an author, to cross promote my work with Anteros Media—both of us reaching markets we may not otherwise be introduced in. They are launching the site with 18 of my short stories which were also recorded in audio format. I’m incredibly excited to be working with them.

Here is an excerpt from the story Reticence: Part II (An Unexpected Party)
As the tempo for the song sped up, Jessie turned to face the stage. Bending at the waist, with his ass on display, he jerked the sides of his jeans. The scant Velcro holding them in place pulled apart and the jeans came off in his hands to reveal a skimpy red thong, which covered next to nothing. Ian leaned forward in his chair; though the reaction seemed rather involuntary because he fell back a moment later as Jessie rested his hands on Ian’s chair just above the boy’s shoulders. The dancer spread his legs and straddled sweet Ian’s lap.
Even with the low lighting, Jason could see Ian’s face flush as Jessie leaned forward and whispered in his ear. Ignoring Doug’s shocked exhalation at the sight of his younger brother’s lap dance, Jason moved toward the edge of his seat. He intended to get up and put a stop to Ian’s humiliation when he saw the younger man hesitate, and then put his hands on Jessie’s hips. For a moment, he wondered what exactly Jessie could have said to make the normally shy, reserved Ian so bold.
Ian’s eyes closed tightly and he sucked in a breath when Jessie ground his nearly naked hips down into the boy’s lap. In contrast, Jessie’s eyes widened and his sudden smile was easy for any gay man to interpret—Ian was well endowed and hard. Jason’s hand tightened around his beer and he wanted to look away, he really did, but couldn’t force his eyes from Ian’s flushed and excited face. When Ian’s eyes opened, however, they didn’t waver from Jessie’s body, which glistened under the lights. The dancer’s lithe body undulated with skilled, controlled movements. His hips alternated between rocking on Ian’s lap and grinding in tight circles. When his head fell back, Jason could no longer tell if the dance was still an act.
Doug put his hand on Jason’s arm when Jason tried to rise.
“Jason, just let it finish. They’re not going to fuck in front of the stage,” he said above the music in Jason’s ear. “What the hell is… Wait…” Doug searched his face, and then he laughed. “Oh my God, you’re hot for Ian?” Jason looked away from his best friend for several minutes, watching as Jessie turned and started grinding his tight little ass against Ian’s cock through his tight jeans.
“For years,” Jason finally admitted.
“Well, I think we were right about Ian being gay. Why don’t you go push your friend away and grab the kid?” Doug said with a smirk.
“You’re okay with me dating your brother?” Jason asked and felt a knot in his chest loosen. He’d been friends with Doug since kindergarten and he didn’t want to do anything to screw up that relationship. If he’d dated Ian and Doug wasn’t okay with it, he could have lost them both.
“You’re like a brother to me too, Jase. You won’t fuck him over,” Doug said, his voice suddenly serious. “He could do much worse than you.” Then, like he just realized what they were talking about, gave Jason an awkward punch on the arm. Jason smirked, and the look said what he didn’t have to—straight boy.
Jason slid his chair back, ready to take Jessie’s place in front of Ian when he noticed that the dancer’s movements had sped and his back arched so he could bend back and murmur in Ian’s ear. Jessie’s cock, peeked out over the top of his skimpy thong, though he may not have noticed because his eyes were closed. Ian’s eyes were also closed and his face looked tense. Before Jason could even take a step toward Ian, the boy’s head fell forward against the dancer’s shoulder, turned slightly to the side so that Jason could see his sweet mouth form the word “fuck”. A violent shudder went through Ian’s body and Jason’s cock throbbed painfully in his pants as he realized that Ian had just come in his jeans.

Little Boy Lost Series
Little Boy Lost is a coming of age story about two teenage boys—Brian McAllister and Jamie Mayfield—growing up gay in rural Alabama. The six book series chronicles their lives as they navigate through peers, parents, and porn, desperately searching for the perfect combination of circumstances in which they can be together. Through their journey, they find friends, pain, acceptance, loss, and most importantly, themselves.
Reviews for Little Boy Lost
This is a compulsively readable book. I sat down with it the other day, intending just to skim it for this re-review, but within a few pages I was pulled completely into the story just like I was last year. Brian and Jamie are wonderful characters, beautifully drawn and realized. They experience the wonder and excitement of their first love, going through each step: a touch, a kiss, an embrace, and more. At the same time, they are terrified of what might happen to them should anyone find out about their relationship. They live in a very small town in Alabama where faggot jokes and homophobia are the norm. How do they reconcile their feelings for each other with the reality of the time and place in which they are living? – JesseWave
What this author does in ABANDONED is just amazing, it is a pure and honest kind of writing that bares the soul of a seventeen, going on eighteen year old. It offers the worst of circumstances in which various forms of love can ignite, nourish and inspire Brian on his journey. I never expected to experience such a strong connection to the person Brian is. I’m still amazed by it and savoring it every chance I get. ABADONED blew me away as J.P. Barnaby continues the story of memorable characters who just go for your heart. This is just about as good as it gets in the M/M genre! – Leontine’s Book Realm

About J. P. Barnaby
As a bisexual woman, J.P. is a proud member of the GLBT community both online and in her small town on the outskirts of Chicago. A member of Mensa, she is described as brilliant but troubled, sweet but introverted, and talented but deviant. She spends her days writing software and her nights writing erotica, which is, of course, far more interesting. The spare time that she carves out between her career and her novels is spent reading about the concept of love, which, like some of her characters, she has never quite figured out for herself.

That looks like an awesome project! Congratulations, what a coup!
Thank you! I have a great time writing for Anteros.
Oh my, super hot!
Thank you! There are more on the newly launched AnterosMedia.com.
Your statement that Mr. Devon Hunter started Anteros Media to “try and change the culture behind adult entertainment” may have bigger impact then relayed by that one little sentence.
Though I know neither one of you think it will be an easy road I believe with time it has the potential to make an enormous impact not only for the way performers are treated and perceived but for the viewing public as well.
Knowing what a creative and artistic man Devon is I am very excited to see all the innovative things he has put together for his new site. And to be able to “hear” your micro fiction is a brilliant idea that will undoubtedly end up being copied for the beautiful concept it is. I have always thought that erotic romance writers should be in charge of all the writing for adult studios not only for scenes but for marketing copy as well. I have been working on an article entitled “Constipated Marketing Techniques in Adult Industry” that I will post later next month that you might get a kick out of.
I also found it ironic that you picked a lap dance sequence to post for a taste of your micro fiction. I had earlier asked Devon how many of the 50 or so scenes he already has recorded that he appears in himself and he said 7. I forgot to ask him if any included a lap dance since I am aware both he and Mr. Phillip Aubrey are both accomplished professional dancers. I believe that would be truly special.
I know you are busy preparing to go see him for his most special day on Saturday and I want to thank you for taking the time to post all of this wonderful information about the Little Boy Lost series and Anteros Media.
I wish you both a wonderful time and knowing Devon’s creativity it will be one spectacular unforgettable event! Best wishes to you both!
That is correct – both Phillip Aubrey and Devon Hunter are professional dancers. One scene that they have recorded is based somewhat on this story. They start by reading the story aloud on screen and then go into a nice lap dance. That scene has not yet been posted.
My dearest J.P., I am so incredibly happy for and proud of you for this achievement! You know how much I have loved Jamie and Brian from day 1! (btw, have I mentioned lately that I hate you?!?) I don’t think two characters have ever captured my heart the way these two have! Can’t wait to see what you do on this new project with Anteros, hope they know how lucky they are to have you! Much love and luck in all you do, J.P.!
I think I”d miss it if you didn’t tell me daily that you hate me.
<3 What are you going to do for entertainment now that the series is over?
How fortunate for both of you to have something so complimentary to each.. Many wishes for both your successes in this venture!
Thank you, Archie. xo
What a great idea! I had no idea that you were doing this as well. When do you find time to sleep woman?!
It happens, occasionally.
The site launched on Friday while I was down there at the Anteros house – it was an incredible weekend. Check out the microfiction stories and a video interview with me by Devon Hunter right on the site.
This is a GREAT idea! What a phenomenal concept. I can’t wait to see how it turns out. =)
The site launched on Friday, and it’s getting great feedback so far.
I’m curious about the audio because when I’ve used audio books in the past it kind of made me giggle and blush like a 12 year old. I’ll be curious to see how it works in an even sexier format.
Oh, Dale’s voice is like rough velvet – just sexy and rough, and ugh…
