Like An Uncommon Whore and Belle Starr, The Bacchi is set in a science fiction universe I call ‘The Coalition.’ I love world-building and when I wrote Belle Starr, knew this was a world that would be a blast to explore. There are multitudes of races, species and cultures, all with their own unique identity. There are moons and planets and spaceships…and so many toys!
The Coalition is an organized alliance of governments who banded together to trade, facilitate interstellar travel and to protect civilizations that might be vulnerable to aggressive species such as the Landaun. In Uncommon Whore 2: When I Fall, the central plot revolves around King Helios attempts to join the alliance to gain protection for his people.
The Coalition includes warrior races such as the Am Were and the simulative Zamoran. There is a merchant species called the Fedoran, and the scientific/technical specialists of Valora. My favorite of the Coalition species are the Somian and the Vash. The Somian are a colorful twin species, and the Vash are nocturnal healers. Both are pacifistic races who provide succor and sanctuary to populations ravaged by war.
The Bacchi takes place in a system called ‘Landis’ which belongs to the Coalition. Inspector Afton Teris is a police detective, and as such, is a member of Interstellar Coalition Enforcement, or ICE. It is his job that initially brings him into contact with Lefi Dhrahn, the Bacchi.
When I started Lefi and Afton’s story, the elements that ran through my mind were color, nature, sensuality, and surrender. Hopefully, you’ll see the vivid gardens, smell the spices and feel the silken touch of a luxurious red robe.

I really enjoyed the Uncommon Whore books, so…I guess I have more to put on my wishlist, huh? That thing’s never ever EVER gonna get shorter, is it?
You never want your wishlist to get short!
True, but it’s getting a little overwhelming…
I haven’t read Uncommon Whore, but the excerpt for The Bacchi was excellent. I guess I’ll be adding a few books to my wish list, as well.
And the wishlist just gets longer! Where do I find my fairy godmother(father) to make my wishes come true?
Loved the Uncommon Whore books. So glad to see more from you! Buying ASAP.
Thanks so much, you guys!
I am a big fan of all of Belinda McBride’s work. This is another book to add to my tbr pile!
