Tuesdays won’t always be “Turista”, but it seemed appropriate for the next couple of weeks.
So, as I’m sure most of you know by now, I’m in Italy! These last few days have been spent in Rome (although Tuesday, as you’re reading this, we’ll be on our way to Siena).
I have Flat Copley here with me. I’ll admit that it seemed like a great idea when Heidi and I were in the safe cocoons of our homes, but when faced with whipping him out in public, I’ve been a bit shy. Luckily for me, there’s one lady in our group (named Marie, even!) who has been quite enthusiastic about helping me, so I have a few Flat Copley images to share with you. Of course, Rome is also the home of a hundred sculptures celebrating the human form, so I’ve decided to also dedicate this post to some lovely naked-man statues.
And….. whatever else I stumble across.
So, here goes…
Flat Copley

Me along with Flat Copley (who’s falling down on the job) and the other Marie. We’re finding that Flat Copley is… well… a bit limp, at times. He could use to be a bit more rigid, don’t you think? This made for a great many stiff/flaccid jokes at the Forum.
I really, really wanted to get Flat Copley at the Vatican, but they made me check my backpack. Honestly, they move you through there like cattle, so it might have been tough anyway. I did, however, manage to get some Vatican pictures for the next bit.
Naked Men Sculptures
Now, if a statue is in the Vatican, it must be holy, right? So here are some pictures of some holy naked dudes.
Lastly, some complete and utter….
Randomness
And on that note, I’ll sign off until next week, when we’ll see adventures of Flat Copley in Siena and Florence. Ciao!

Lovely! I was in Rome at the end of May and beginning of June! I think I had more fun at the Vatican than you did but they do try to move you like sheep! Some places you don’t even need to walk you just get so caught in the crowd. None of my pictures have flat Copley but I did take plenty of naked man pics!
Have fun in Siena! Pick yourself a Palio, a neighborhood, I adopted Drago!
Yes, the only place there that wasn’t packed was the modern art section, which was completely deserted. :-/
Thanks!
It lookslike Flat Copley may need to be laminated so he stops falling down on the job. He will need to wear protection around all those hot Italians anyway! Keep having fun. I am enjoying it vicariously through you.
I am so green with envy…I want to travel so bad! And Flat Copley looks like he fits right in and is having a great time!
loved all your pics, looks like your having lots of fun. dont know about flat copley though
I think you have found the perfect traveling companion in Flat; no complaining or whining and he tucks away neatly in the luggage. Thanks for sparking lovely memories.
We took my kids to Italy in 2004 at 10 and 12. At the end of one particularly trying day, my 10 year old son was heard to wail, “I am so sick of seeing naked people!”. Alas, I was merely tired of son.
Love the pics – looks like a fun time will be had by all.
